Ana Avramovic completed her Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences at Radboud University Nijmegen, with a specialisation in molecular medicine. During her studies, she conducted several research projects focusing on the development of potential therapeutic approaches for cancer and immune-related disorders.
In 2025, she started her PhD in the group of Joep Derikx and Wouter de Jonge at Amsterdam UMC, where she investigates anastomotic healing and leakage after colorectal cancer surgery and the mechanisms underlying cancer recurrence. Within the SMARTHEAL project, she will use preclinical models to test and validate sensors for the SMARTHEAL implant.
